The Girls - Caleta and Diana

The story so far - These two damsels in distress were donated to Ballyholme Yacht Club by their owners some time ago.  Diana has been out of the water for around ten years and Caleta just a few.  The boats were originally built on the Clyde in 1939 and have been raced regularly at BYC. There were originally nine boats, two are gone for good - destroyed in storms many years ago when we moored in Ballyholme Bay.  One is in currently in the water, and three more could be made ready for next season.  This means we could have six boats in the water for next season.

The Club has been trying to get someone to take on these boats for a number of years without success.  To cut the long story short, together with some friends, we have offered £1.00 each for the boats and our offer has been accepted.  Now I am panicking!  I really did not want to see these boats rot away at the Club so want to get them into good order for next season.  However, while I have reasonable woodworking skills and most of the equipment I do not know about wooden boats.  All advice gratefully received.

I will post some pictures here to show what we are up against.  They are not in bad order but do need some TLC.
