The Girls - Caleta and Diana

I will post some pictures here to show what we are up against.  They are not in bad order but do need some TLC.

The Girls, Caleta and Diana, now in my back garden.  Constructed a frame, which we will cover just with tarpauline, to give us a bit of shelter while working on them.

Caleta

Caleta - Showing planking marks

Presumably this is the seam filler being forced out when the planks swelled after launch.

Do we just rub these down (we may go right down to the wood as there are a huge number of paint layers) and them prime and paint?

Caleta - Damage to Stem

Not quite sure what has happened here - looks like a scarfed joint has opened up.  The gap was just full of filler, now removed.

I had thought that I should make a wooden wedge piece to fit, glue it in place and then fair the lower piece in again.  Would this be OK?

Diana

This boat has been out of the water since 2001.

Diana - showing sprung planks

This damage is low down on stbd side just above the ballast keel.  Two planks have sprung about 8/9mm (3/8in in American)

Not sure what to do about these.  The lower one is a little damp at the moment (there was water getting inside the boat for a little while which was getting out here).  This may be OK when we put a roof on the temporary shed and and let it dry out.

Have no idea how to start this repair - any ideas and advice welcome.

Diana - another view of the sprung planks from further aft.

Diana - Gap between planks aft underneath.

This is the next problem I do not know how to deal with.  The gap is around 6mm (¼in) over about 300mm  (1ft).

I have had all sorts of advice about this including “just keep the hose on it for a couple of weeks”!

Really could do with some good advice here
